About This Data

Data Source

All data displayed on LOWE-TRACKER is sourced directly from the official UK Parliament Members' Register of Interests. MPs are legally required to declare any financial interests that could influence their parliamentary duties, including payments received from external organisations.

We specifically track payments from social media companies including X Corp (formerly Twitter), Meta, Google, and others. Our crawler periodically fetches data from the Parliament Members API and identifies payments from these technology companies based on the registered interest descriptions.

What The Data Shows

The data clearly shows that Rupert Lowe MP (Independent, Great Yarmouth) has received significantly more income from X/Twitter than any other sitting MP. This suggests strong engagement and audience reach on the platform, with X Corp choosing to compensate him through their creator monetisation programme.

This could indicate several things: a large and engaged following, content that generates significant impressions and engagement, and/or participation in X's premium creator programmes. Whatever the reason, the Parliamentary record shows Lowe is currently the top earner among MPs from Elon Musk's platform.

Important Caveats

While this data comes from official Parliamentary sources, there are important limitations to consider:

  • Declaration Timing: MPs have up to 28 days to register new interests, so recent payments may not yet appear.
  • Categorisation: We identify payments based on company names in the register. Some payments might be miscategorised if the description is ambiguous.
  • Indirect Payments: Payments made through intermediaries or agencies may not be captured if the social media company is not named directly.
  • Historical Data: Our tracker began collecting data from the start of the current Parliament (July 2024). Earlier payments are not included.
  • Not All Income: This only shows declared payments from social media companies, not total MP income or other platform earnings.
